Info about (ND) filters
What is an ND filter?
An ND filter reduces the amount of light reaching the sensor.
The higher the number behind the "ND", the stronger the darkening.
Why do you need an ND filter?
To be able to create a smooth video the exposure time should be
should be twice the frame rate (frames pro second).
If you take a video with 24 frames pro second, the optimal exposure time would be 1/50s. To achieve this, the sensor must be darkened, otherwise the video would be overexposed.
How strong does the filter have to be?
The amount of darkening required varies depending on the brightness:
ND4 & ND8: Twilight to very cloudy weather.
ND16: cloudy to partly cloudy weather
ND32: sunny weather
ND64: Particularly bright light conditions (snow, water)
What does the suffix "/PL" stand for?
PL or CPL stands for polarizing filter. This reduces the glare of surfaces (e.g. water) and at the same time increases the color saturation for even more beautiful shots without post-processing.
