(Not suitable for DJI Mavic Air 2S, Mavic Air 1, DJI Mavic 2, etc.)
What is a ND filter?
A ND filter reduces, similar to sunglasses, the amount of light arriving at the eye / sensor.
The higher the number behind the "ND", the stronger the escort.
What does the addition "Pl" mean?
One distinguishes between "only" darkening filters and filters with the addition "PL".
PL stands for pole filters. This reduces the blending effect of surfaces (e.g., water) and simultaneously increases the color saturation.
Why do you need an ND filter?
To create a liquid video should be the exposure time
twice the frame rate (images per second).
If you take a video with 24 frames per second, you would be at an optimal exposure time of 1/50. To achieve this, the sensor must be darkened because the video otherwise overexposed.
How strong does the filter have to be?
The height of the required dragging varies depending on the brightness.
Here some examples:
ND4: In the evening, morning hours and cloudy sky
ND8: Cloudy to partially sunny weather
ND16: sunny weather
ND32: Very sunny weather and / or in water, snow environment
ND64:Extremely light conditions
